Fireman's Runs

For 2012/13, sponsored by Ramsey Bakery.

Start outside Ramsey Fire Station The Fireman's runs are a series of handicapped races held over the autumn and winter months around the streets of Ramsey. There are two races to choose from, a 1 lap race (approximately 1.7 miles and a 3 lap race (5 miles).

The first and last meeting will be a scratch race (no handicap) and to qualify for the series you must complete 4 races and these must include the 2 scratch races.

After the first race finishing times determine the handicap of runners for the next race. As the series continues start times are based on the runner's fastest time. However, the final race will be another scratch race. This gives raw beginners and the more seasoned athletes an equal chance of winning.

All the races will be held on a Thursday night with signing from 6:15pm at the Fire Station. Athletes wishing to take part must be signed in by 6:50 pm, in order to allow the race order to be compiled and the first runners to set off at 7pm prompt.

Since all the races take place in the dark, runners MUST wear hi-viz clothing. White t-shirts are not acceptable. However if a runner forgets their top or does not have one, they will be able to purchase hi-viz bibs on the night at a cost of approximately £5.

NO HI-VIZ means NO RACE.

The fee for each race will be £4 for affiliated athletes and £6 for unattached.
