Liverpool Harriers Jumps/Throws Open Meeting 15 Sept. 2012

Amber Sibbald reaches Grade 1 AAA for U15

Amber Sibbald and her mum travelled over to the above open meeting to compete in the High Jump. Unfortunately upon arrival they found out that there was no U13 category and Amber had to compete as an U15. Not letting this phase the talented 12 year old, Amber came in at a 1.30 jump and confidently cleared all jumps first time up until and including 1.50m. Amber then bravely chose 1.55m as her next height (even though she had never attempted this before). She got over it first time but clipped her heels so the bar fell, this happened again, but she managed to focus for her 3rd and final attempt which she cleared to big applause.

This is a new p.b. for Amber and new IOM record, previously set by Amber in June at 1.51. By reaching 1.55 Amber qualified for the grade 1 AAA standard in English Athletics for U15 girls, receiving a plaque for this achievement. As well as breaking her own Island record she moved to 4th in the UK rankings for U13 girls.
